That seems to be the consensus here in Sydney. The La Nina-Southern Oscillation is bringing Sydney, New South Wales, and the rest of southeastern Australia its wettest Spring in some time. We had a neat-o thunderstorm Sunday afternoon, the kind I haven't seen since living in the US South. It gave Brigette a good soaking as she returned from the grocery store. And we had rain for a few hours again today as well.
December is the equivalent of May in the Northern Hemisphere and Sydneysiders are NOT happy about what they see as a delayed start to their summer. Here are the facts: Today's high, and the projected high for the rest of the week is 21C. That's 70F. Today's low, and again the projected low for the rest of the week, is about 16C. That's 61F. And the chance of rain today, tomorrow, and for most of the rest of the week is 40%.
Not exactly the worst weather in the world. And yet I have never heard so much whining (or "winging," in the local parlance) about weather. Good thing these folks don't live in the Pacific Northwest, eh?
